At SPSA 2017 (St. Gallen, January 11–12), I co-presented this paper with Daniel Bochsler introducing a two-dimensional framework examining both the conflict-reducing and division-entrenching effects of power-sharing. We argued that disentangling these two faces of power-sharing is essential for understanding when and why power-sharing succeeds or fails as a strategy for managing ethnic conflict.
