Russia's War Against Ukraine: Europe After the Turning Point
Roundtable at Europe Day, University of Fribourg, on the political, security, and solidarity consequences of Russia's war against Ukraine for the European order.
I participated in a roundtable on Europe Day at the University of Fribourg on 9 May 2025. The discussion focused on the consequences of Russia's war against Ukraine for European security, political solidarity, and institutional order. Drawing on my research into conflict dynamics and minority rights, I contributed to the discussion of how the war has reshuffled European foreign policy alignments, tested multilateral cohesion, and raised fundamental questions about the territorial and political principles underpinning the post-Cold War European settlement. The event brought together scholars and practitioners to reflect on what "Europe after the turning point" means in practice for peace, security, and governance.
