I taught this BA seminar at University College London (ESPS0018) in 2019. The course introduced students to the major theoretical frameworks and empirical case studies of political violence and civil war. Topics covered included greed vs. grievance explanations, ethnic conflict, state capacity, counterinsurgency, and the role of external actors in shaping conflict outcomes.
