At the 12th EPSA Annual Conference (Prague, June 23–25, 2022), I presented in Session 55 "Ethnic Conflict, Power-sharing, and Intergroup Contact" on the conditions under which dominant groups retaliate against minority accommodation policies. I argued that backlash is not a uniform reaction but depends on how accommodation is framed, which groups it visibly benefits, and whether dominant groups perceive it as a zero-sum threat to their own status.
